From Clubhouse to Vows: Why an Audio Guest Book Was This Couple's Wedding VIP

From a Clubhouse meet-cute to a timeless NY wedding. See how an audio guest book captured the unfiltered memories & inside jokes a traditional guest book just couldn't.

What do a rotary phone, a ballet dancer, and a COVID-era Clubhouse romance have in common? No, it’s not the start of a quirky rom-com (though it would make a perfect film). It’s the unique love story of Sarah Gav Mirabella (aka @sarahgavilla) and David Mirabella, who tied the knot in the timeless elegance of The Admiral Room in Buffalo, NY this past April.

And let us tell you—this wasn’t just any wedding. It was equal parts classic, emotional, and wildly entertaining… especially once our little green rotary phone came out to play.

Meet-Cute: Pandemic Edition 💘📱

Sarah and David’s romance started through the Clubhouse app (talk about a throwback, amirite?). She was teaching social media tips like the boss she is, and he was wooing people with music. (If that’s not a digital meet-cute for the ages, what is?) They eventually met IRL in NYC, moved to Brooklyn, fell in love, and now call Austin home. But when it came to the wedding? It was all about Buffalo—David’s hometown.

A Wedding with Vintage Vibes and Nerve-Citement 👰‍♀️

Sarah planned every detail herself—no planner, just Type-A tenacity—wanting an aesthetic that was “as timeless as possible.” Think classic glamour with a personal touch.

After months of moodboards and vendor-booking, she woke up on the big day as a bundle of nerves and excitement—what she adorably calls being “nerve-cited.” But thanks to her bridesmaids (a calm, cool, collected group of family only), she found her zen through their love and support.

And they weren’t the only ones showing her and her husband love! The officiant just happened to be their dear friend Eric, another proud member of their Clubhouse community.

Enter: The Audio Guest Book

Sarah had actually spotted After The Tone on Instagram before she even got engaged. Manifestation? Maybe. Taste? Definitely.

“This would be so cute when I get married one day,” she remembered thinking. And once that day came, our green voicemail guest book was there, front and center.

Alongside a traditional wedding guest book (which she also had, because why not?), Sarah noticed one big difference:

“If I’m honest, I way prefer the responses we got on our audio guest book,” she said. “The written ones felt more impersonal. The voicemails? Absolutely hysterical.”

Guests left messages dripping with inside jokes, happy laughs, and just enough wedding wine to keep things interesting. From hilarious drunk rants to sentimental gold, the phone guest book table captured everything—including a moment that Sarah will never forget:

“My Grandpa said it was easily in the top 10 best days of his life. I’ve always had a close relationship with him.” 🥹

Pro Wedding Tips from the Bride Herself

Sarah dropped some serious wisdom for future brides:

  • Let the small things go
  • Don’t leave each other's side! Try to experience every memory together.
  • Pick your top 3 priorities, and release the rest

(TBH, advice we should all probably apply to life in general.)

A Fairytale Ending, With Leftovers

After the event, Sarah and David did what every couple should do:
They sat with friends, finally ate the food they couldn't eat earlier due to nerves, and debriefed on all the stories their guests shared—including the stuff they totally missed during the whirlwind of the day.

“The audio guest book was one of people’s favorite things from the wedding,” Sarah said. “They couldn’t stop talking about it!”

Capture Forever Memories with After The Tone

Sarah and David’s story is proof that love can bloom in the most unexpected places—and that sometimes, the best wedding memories are the ones you get to replay.

To future couples: Don’t underestimate the power of hearing your Grandpa’s voice crack with emotion, or your best friend’s slurred pizza delivery voicemail. It’s magic—and we’re just the phone to capture it.

Check out our audio guest books. Or, book a rotary phone for your special day.

Oh, and don’t forget to follow Sarah at @sarahgavilla. Congrats to the happy couple!
